General description

The Gender Studies program (15 ECTS credits) presents underlying theories on the construction, significance and effect of gender and gender relations. Students learn to apply the research perspectives of Gender Studies to scientific works and to address multidisciplinary questions. The core elective modules analyze gender in social, cultural, historical, political, economic, biological, mental and psychological structures and processes. One particularity of the Gender Studies Master's program at the University of Zurich is the topical focus on "Gender relationships in non-European cultures and societies". It offers post-colonial, global historical and transnational perspectives of the handling of gender-related topics.
